Ote irtoaa (Letting Go)

A video from the installation "Ote irtoaa" built in Suojala barn, Silence festival 2025. Animation for two projectors and stereo sound. 

Light orbs drop down the walls of the Suojala barn in the installation piece Letting Go. The work stems from the poetics of release — the haunting beauty of surrender. Letting go of obligations, ambition, a relationship, or a period in time. The sounds may first seem mundane, but a sensitive ear will hear music in them.

The piece is not just a soundscape, nor a video, not even the barn itself, but rather a moment of pause — here, now. Breathing, listening, sensing, and feeling. Releasing is also a form of liberation: it opens the way to new directions.

The piece is composed and conceptually designed by Anna Hakula. Animation by Milla Impola.
